vague notions

I used to throw out old sketchbooks because I was embarrassed of my technical skills and what my former self thought was important enough to put to page. Now I embrace how awkward my growth can be. My thesis was born out of a dumb sketch in a sketchbook I had been working on and off for years. There are also lots of things in that same sketchbook that were not really worth putting on a page. Process is so important to me. It’s essential to my practice to have a limitless space—my sketchbooks provide me with that space.
